Øst Centingas Party

Øst Centingas was formed on June 8th, 2016, so this weekend we had a 2 year anniversary party at Wychurst. People began showing up, setting up their camps and beds, and chatting in circles but it wasn't long until the swords came out. There were only a handful of fighters so we mainly fought in pairs and had a couple rounds of Valhalla. I am greatly enjoying the new shield, almost as much as Konrad was enjoying his spear "long boy."

Only re-enactors could find after hours activities that are more dangerous than hitting each other with weapons. The viking games were out in full force, the group tug of war, the tripping game, and the fan favourite - pull the other team over the line. Most people didn't want to bother with cooking so we ordered up various forms of take-away, which included more pizza boxes. Rob wouldn't let us burn them though, he still had a haunted look in his eyes from the floating fire boxes of Newark.

Once it was dark enough, we played Manhunt around the burg. There are a surprising number of places you can hide within the walls and people got creative - in a hammock, up trees, under woodpiles, and I even got on the roof at one point, just needed a bit of help getting down. We also found a bunch of glowworms, not really relevant, they were just cute.

Jordan had brought his glowing juggling balls, but when their batteries went out, we were left with no other alternative but to switch to fire sticks. Those were fun and I still have my eyebrows. The evening went on until it was technically morning. I don't think any of us had intended to stay up until 6am, but we somehow managed it. At one point a group of us had fallen asleep outside so we had to wake up and drag ourselves back into the hall to actually sleep. It was a great night, and we recovered the following morning with lunch at the Punch and squeezing a few more people into our house to watch A Knight's Tale.

In other news, I've started my second job at the Shakespeare Pub. People seem really nice and I am less likely to hit my head on the doorways than I was at other places where I interviewed.
